About the district Madhubani
Madhubani district is located in the northern most part of the state of Bihar bordering Nepal. Madhubani is among the most flood affected area in the state of Bihar and has trend of having flood in every two years and massive flood in every 10 years interval.
In these flood prone areas where poverty is seen in its worst form, with accompanying hazards and unsafe conditions, the well-being and growth of communities becomes a serious challenge which in the long run have a bearing on the household economic condition of these communities. The land pattern of the area is declining in nature making most of the land to be low lying. During monsoon rivers get filled with water and starts flowing through sides causing floods. Many river flows through the district, main rivers are Kamla , Kareh, Balan, Bhutahi Balan, Gehuan, Supen, Trishula, Jeevachh, Koshi and Adhwara Group.
