Abhigyan Disha with its objective of social up-liftment of girls and women implemented Udaan project in collaboration with CARE India. Udaan was a residential school for 11 to 14 yrs aged, out of school girls belonging mainly to the Scheduled Caste and disadvantaged group. Udaan provided a life time opportunity for those who have ‘missed the bus’ to complete class 5 level education through a customized bridge course designed by CARE India in a period of 11 months focusing on completion of primary schooling. The initiative of Udaan ensured that 100 out of school girl children of adolescent age group to participate again in elementary education in each academic year . Besides completing primary education, it was also intended that the girls will gain social skills to grow up as confident individuals who are capable of taking key decisions about their future.

Natural Resource Management

Aiming to Promote and Strengthening of Livelihood of the marginalized Communities with Specific Focus on Flood and Water Logged Areas in 10 villages under Madhubani, the project was implemented with support from Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Center for World Solidarity. Focusing around Natural Resource Management (NRM), the project has succeeded in achieving the target of ensuring low cost cultivation practices. Farmers were motivated to practice wormy compost production, home made pesticides preparation with materials available around their house, Integrated Paste management practices. These practices not only helped them with increased production but also helped in capital saving on agriculture. There is increased practice of wormy compost production and the practice is up scaling and self replicating itself which can be seen in the area. Kitchen garden support were given to these small and marginal farmer's families to adopt practice of growing vegetables on homestead and increase intake of fresh vegetables.

Abhigyan Disha Academy

This is a formal school run by Abhigyan Disha. The objective is to make available the quality education to the needy children in the remote village area and develop the school as center of exellence. The center is located at the village of Narhi. It is at a distance of nearly 15 KM from the district headquarter of Madhubani. The center is surrounded by green fields and it is far from the noisy environment. The center is well connected by road. Most of the enrolled children belong to the lower or middle class of society. These children have no facility or opportunity to get the quality education. Quality of education at the government school is not proving to be satisfactory among the community. The children at the center mostly belong to the most vulnerable groups within the community – the Scheduled Caste and similar other backward classes. On the economic front these communities are very backward while on education front they are illiterate and many children are first generation learner. This center runs under Mission Education aiming to provide elementary education to all especially of disadvantaged children.

Resilience Building of Excluded Community through Ensuring Entitlements

This programme is supported by Church's Auxiliary for Social Action. With the objective of that the target community have access to resources to secure their livelihood and Community-based organisations, with the active participation of women, carry out collective actions to implement of Govt. schemes , this project is being implemented in 10 villages in Kaluahi Block. Nearly 1000 families are involved with this project. The programme intends to empower the community through formation, capacity building and strengthening of community based organisation, their leadership development and cadre building of young and women from excluded community to advocate and campaign on the issue of livelihood, disaster and other entitlements.

Nutrition Programme

This programme is aimed to educate children on food choices that will optimize their health and prevent diseases and health promotion by serving meals to 200 children. Smile foundation supports this initiative and it is being run at our Abhigyan Disha Academy center.
